Dental Implants

A dental implant is the latest tooth replacement technology we have. Until implants became available, dental bridges were very popular. In an implant, we place a titanium screw inside the patient’s gum where the missing tooth used to be. The goal is to have the screw tightly attach to the jawbone.

We’ll place a light, temporary tooth over the titanium screw for a few months. After a few months, the screw will be tightly adhered to the jawbone and can support the weight of the permanent artificial tooth.

Implants are permanent and last a lifetime for most people. You will have no restrictions with a dental implant and can get more than one if you have several missing teeth. You’ll still need to take proper care of your implant, though. This is by brushing your teeth at least twice a day, flossing at least once, and coming in for your check-ups.
